Wayfinding Signage Expands Throughout Downtown

Wayfinding Signage Expands Throughout Downtown

On March 30, 2016 the City of Savannah formally unveiled new wayfinding signage. Over the past 11 years, the City of Savannah has collaborated with Savannah Mobility Management, Visit Savannah, and many other local stakeholders to design, build and install a new set of signs to direct drivers and pedestrians to key destinations.

Savannah Mobility Management assisted with the consultation on the character, colors, and style of the new signage. Wayfinding signage was an initiative identified in the 2005 Visitor Mobility Plan, and Savannah Mobility Management is proud to see it come to fruition.

The fist phase of signs were installed on Oglethorpe Ave., Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Montgomery St., Liberty St., and Drayton St. to direct drivers to major destinations, cultural attractions, and parking garages. Future phases of signs will aid pedestrians as they navigate the streets and squares of Savannah’s downtown.

The unveiling was covered by several local media outlets including Savannah Morning News, WTOC, and WJCL.
